Oh No Robbie

Oh why did you go to your friends and drink beer?
Oh why did you get on that dirt bike and drive down the highway?
Oh how did you not see Kansas?
Oh no third gear doing 40+
Oh no a thud and a scream,
Oh no blood everywhere!
Oh no Robbie your only 16
Oh no no-one knows now what will happen

Author notes

My nephew was at a friends home drinking beer, on Sat night, he leaves on a dirt bike, hits a woman walking on the side if the highway. Both are in critical condition,  Please pray for Robbie and Kansas.

    So so sad

    Hi Poetess, First of all what a sad story. I feel so sorry for those involved and hope they make a full recovery.

    This is a wonderful bit of writing because it is so immediate and it does what poetry should do, it makes you think. I thought about the woman and her family. I thought about Robbie and how this will affect him for the rest of his life. Most of all I thought about how we should talk to our children spend loads of time with them and teach them to think.

      Hi! yes it is a sad story, Robbie has had surgery twice on his facial bones, and Kansas she too had facial bone issues. a broken leg, both are out of hospital now and Im wondering when will the law, be there to ticket Robbie, Odd as there has been no word on that, I quess well see.... Thanks again for your wonderful comment, so true to teach the children "to think"

    So very sad and even more so because it is true!!!!!!!!!!
    I will pray from Robbie and Kansas!!!!!  The poem is lovely, but oh so sad. It brings tears to my eyes!!!!!!
    Tell Robbie when he recovers, we all make mistakes, but we must learn from them!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!!! Be blessed!!!
