All Hallows Eve ...

October’s full moon, danced ‘round dank, dark clouds,
Chilly winds took the leaves for a spin.
Bright-eyed, a pumpkin peered through the light mist
Standing guard with his toothy grin.
Way out in the yard a slim scarecrow stood
Eyeing the costumed crowd shuffling in --
While across the field, you could hear the moans
From the graves of those bones therein.
Restless to brave this one night’s ghostly flight,
to harass what remains of their kin ~
It won’t be a treat and the trick’s on you,
if they prickle the hairs of your skin!

It’s All Hallows Eve when spirit’s roam free,
Don your mask ~ let the party begin!

    Thanks for entering

I like this, good flow and structure. Nice job with the rhymen and rhythm. Creepy and spooky but not overly so, a good Halloween poem, light on the scare big on the fun.

    Happy Halloween!

Very cute and practical. Tells the way Halloween is to children and the fun behind it all. The rhyme adds to the beauty. Keep up the good work and good luck in the contest.

I wish Halloween was still like it was when I was a kid. Though it still has to be one of my favorite non-secular holidays. It's so sad that kids can't roam the neighborhood and be treated like kids having innocent fun. Best of luck in the contest.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long
