Captivated...

Missing image
You came so suddenly
ending a long hot desolate time
with breathtaking beauty
you captivate my senses...
a visual feast...
though you bring death!
your touch is light and gentle
Your approach is nearly silent,
as a flitting butterfly!
You caress my skin
and yet that soft touch
brings coldness and death.
How could something,
so seemingly pure
and beautiful,
be the harbinger of death?
A messenger of doom!
You're a gentle reminder
of mortality and that all life
fails in time and yet...
With stunned fascination,
my eyes behold as you assume control
a merciless executioner
cold and unfeeling
with the faux illusion of purity!
I am enamored; beholden by your handiwork.
... though i know, your day shall end
warmth shall return and your icy grip
shall melt away for now...
I just stand in awe...

This is a stunning example of what a free write poem should look like!
Loving the background! And the imagery was beautiful.
Thank you for entering and good luck!

Hm I like the new style, although the exclamation marks kinda bug me, because I don't really read poetry through excitement, and this one seemed calmer, so maybe I would revise taking those out and replacing with either periods or commas.
Other than that I love the imagery, just great poem altogether.

Very beautiful poem, you used excellent imagery. I love the snow, but I can't live in it! I would rather just visit it. Snow can be very deadly...this is a very excellent write!!!!!!!!!!
