My heart burns from the way
your love's candle shines so deeply inside.
I walked in darkness without this flame,
feeling consumed by melancholy's shadows.
For I never lived before your light came to me
bringing day in the midst of despairs permanent night.
Now, all I am glows with such intense joy,
no longer wandering a desert of loneliness
a tearful vagabond with no map of hope.
But my darling, my angel, my goddess and very life,
how is it that you can embrace this awakening,
this pure, exquisite metamorphosis you create
transforming me from a wretched, lifeless caterpillar
and into amore's soaring butterfly?
What words can I say to drape you
in the delicate garment of my tear stained devotion?
Except to pray you'll let my heart that worships you completely
sway you with constant strokes of attentive affection
until in desire's many chasms
my truest feelings touch as an inferno.
