Summer of Sweetest Serenity

I’ve started this poem so many times.
It’s so tough to describe and put into rhyme.
So many emotions and so many thoughts.
All the words I can muster just don’t say enough.

No number of phrases can perfectly describe,
The way I feel when I look in your eyes.
Lost in this unexpected summer bliss.
I never would have believed it would turn into this.

The way I feel when you hold me in your arms.
The sweet-smelling security encases me so safe and warm.
Enveloped in a reality I never wish to leave.
My head on your chest, a dream I can barely believe.

The feeling I have when you hold my hand.
Your fingers graze mine and my heart expands.
It skips a beat and I catch my breath.
I’d give you my heart ‘til there’s nothing left.


The whirling emotions when you say “I love you.”
Three simple words that transform into
Music so welcome to my ears.
When it’s spoken by you, gone are my fears.

I count down the days until I’ll see you again.
You know I don’t care where or when.
As long as I can be with you,
It doesn’t matter what we do.

You’ve made my summer full and complete.
As the sun fades it seems bittersweet.
But know this as the summer disappears from view:
I have and will forever love you!
