a smile fills my lungs
as i breathe in the sweet
spice of burned leaves, interlaced
with the tangibility of death
it's the end of life for a while,
let's celebrate with crimson and gold,
burnt orange and the richest browns
as the earth slowly returns
to its dormant state
three cheers for fall as we
all gather around bonfires sipping
on hot chocolate for warmth
the golden sunlight cascades around us
instilling in us all the feeling
that this is just a promise
that life will come again, even
after a blanket of white has
wiped the earth clean
and leaves the trees naked
just remember the grandeur
of mother nature at her most
radiant, with glowing candles
hidden within carved pumpkins
and sunsets and sunrises spaced
almost too close together
i say goodbye to the living earth
and prepare myself for a long winter
i soak in each ray of sunlight,
hanging on with tanned fingers
to the bright orb overhead
praying that this fall will
be a slow descent instead
of a plunge into winter
Author notes
i'm trying to convey the feeling i felt today, walking between classes and feeling the sweet sunlight warming me.

Inspired by the powers that be. You've found the "alive" energy that radiates from sunbeams.Adore your descriptions of Autumnal blessing.

I agree with you and your feelings. Perfect expressed not only colors. Here I can feel and see all changes, even the smell of fallen leaves... Nature's palette is speaking to us through your poetical light.
