Frayed tennis shoes leaving footprints
in the rain
Walking along a country road, water tower
looking down on an unwashed soul
Tears dried under her eyes, fingernails
caked with mud from trudging thirty miles
Cradling a pastry in her hands, strawberry
jelly, fruity and sticky, staining her palms
with streaks of red
Cars honking, their passengers hollering
as the world goes by on this
lonely two-lane
She contiunes eating, a nibble here,
a nibble there
Clouds are breaking.
Sunlight is peeking.
Gray sky is lightening.
The raindrops stop falling.
Her white-tee is soaked.
Blue jeans are wet.
Her spirit stays strong.
More miles to go
Author notes
Walking through a prairie is one of my passions.
Please tell me what you think

this is a lovely poem, you have a few grammatical and spelling mistakes though, keep an eye on that, because it can sometimes bring down the general effect of the work.
However this is a really fantastic poem, you must have put a lot of thought into it. Well done. -
This appeals to my senses so much! It has everything. I felt like I was there in my jeans and white-tee. This is really beautiful and I see another level as I read it more and more. Wow!
