Broken Promises [Part I]

Cobalt skies beam of fresh autumn air with ivory clouds dancing amongst;
gentle rustling of leaves as the northern wind blows through -
a child, the mere age of seven, stands looking out the back doorway
staring out over the leaf ridden yard and sighs contently.

A scream comes from inside and the child turns around -
meeting the stare of an unappreciative mother and a rage driven father -
a trembling younger brother now clinging to her waist in fear
as their parents fight rages on; haunting the once beautiful day.

Holding her brother close, the child stares bewildered at her parents
whose screams now reign like cannons in her ears -
the rage driven father hits the bickering mother
and the child holds tight to her brother.

Hit after hit; the mother fights back, throwing anything she could -
the refridgerator, which once hid her, now became her only weapon -
back and forth the parents went - throwing the appliance
as the scared children clung desperately to each other.

The child could take no more and her brother rushed desperately to his mothers side -
the abusive father launched the appliance at the mother -
our heroine stepped in the way and blocked the weapon -
dislocating her tender shoulder.

No thanks did she get, except picked up by her throat and forced off the ground into a wall;
several beatings from a free hand of her father to her face then dropped to the ground, sulking;
a broken mother rushes to her daughter; not for comfort but in rage -
again lifted by her neck, only this time thrown through the dry wall wall.

She lay sulking amongst the debris and lay covered in blood -
crawling to her feet; received a kick to the face from her mother who walked off.
Struggling to keep herself up, the child crawled to bed -
there she lay, admist the dry wall plastered on her and blood; cowering in tears -

A gentle wind blew through the window as the clouds rolled on -
a gloomy end to a lovely day as the neighborhood ignored it -
the distant cries; yelping out in despair and the once strong
now bitterly torn concrete angel, sobs herself to sleep.

then the scene changed.

    this is avery intimidating poem to start reading, huge blocks of text can be deterring to a reader. But the actual poem itself was well written. I especially liked the lines
    ""Cobalt skies beam of fresh autumn air with ivory clouds dancing amongst;
    gentle rustling of leaves as the northern wind blows through -
    a child, the mere age of seven, stands looking out the back doorway
    staring out over the leaf ridden yard and sighs contently.""

    I think I liked the firt stanza so much because it was really misleading. Nicely done.
    Keep it up!
    ~cheers~
