This Mother's Arms

This mother's arms
ache to hold
just one more child
with love and care
and tender kisses.

This mother's lips
still long to coo
sweet words of tenderness
holding loving hands.

This mother's lap
longs to hold
a babe so darling
and sing sweet songs.

This mother's eyes
plead to watch
as a daughter grows
before her
to become a woman.

This mother's love
will span the world
wherever you go
whatever you do
and hold you with
this mother's heart.

Thanks for the fond, fond memories. Every child deserves a piece of heaven such as this. Sadly, I know this is not the case all too often but when it does happen that bond is indestructable. Good luck in the contest.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long

Thank you, Leo. Yes, this isn't always the case, but when it is, it's the most beautiful relationship on earth between two humans. Hugs, Patricia

    Very nice

If my mom wasn't already the best....I'd want you, too!
You sound great, but my mom is wonderful. No malice intended, just really do appreciate my mom. This is written very well. I loved it, The Shaker

    Beautiful!

This is the kind of mother I wish I had in real life. My own only cuddled me while I was her youngest (& only, since I'm her oldest)...we cuddled less & less as I grew older, because we can't get along. I can't even talk to her about mother-daughter things without her getting judgemental on me. Our past is far too full of the bad for us to ever be close, unless she decides to do a 180 & quit putting all the blame on someone besides herself. I love both the poem & the background!

Good luck in the contest (and thank you for your entry)!

I'm sorry you and your mother are not close. I'm afraid I am not close with mine either. I'm not so sure if it was that I was a daddy's girl or that she tried to kill me when I was five. Umm, that can certainly hinder a close relationship between two people.

Just remember that there was once cuddling and loving. My mother never cuddled me, and I think I'm okay. My father loved me enough to take most of that pain away from me. I wish I'd had a mother more like me too. Thank you. You're very sweet. Hugs, Patricia
