Nothing

Darkness, in every direction.

The rain crashes down,
Nothing will stop the flood.

Why! What has broken the dam?
For so long you had been safe.
Hiding behind your smile,
Or cowering behind your words,
But that is over now.

Sent out of control,
Nothing will stop the fall.

Wait! There's a flicker of light.
Slowly it begins to grow,
Radiant as her smile,
And as comforting as her words.
Yet still there are tears.

Warmth brings the rain, but
Nothing will stop Darkness.

Again, the light tries to grow,
If only to fade away.
Always within your sight,
Yet shrouded and dim. You realize,
You need her by your side.

This is actually a rewrite of an earlier poem, http://allpoetry.com/poem/1062285 maybe that will help explain it more. I guess i was just trying to get my feelings on paper, it just became dificult when i realized i wasn't letting myself feel anymore... the darkness was taking over.
