In the quicksand
of yesterday promises
you stand beckoning me like
a whirligig... feathers flashing
bright... lustrous cockscomb bristling
nostrils flaring.
Twirling, spinning transfixing me
with myriad distractions: Drakar Noir
teal silk shirt open to your stomach;
serenading me in lyrics of "The Woman's Got
Soul", nuzzling me like a golden retriever
so very sure of yourself, butandohyes
I remember the phantasmagoric nights we
spent like the 1001 Nights of Rimsky-
Korsakov's Scherezade but most of all
I remember your last words
before you left me, alone...
in white lilac shoulders...
"trust me."

Love it.
This piece is ridiculously rich with imagery. Hence the gold.
Favorite lines:
"In the quicksand
of yesterday promises"
Incidentally, the opening lines.
Very well done.
