Hey, Gorgeous

I call him gorgeous, though I've only seen his facial profile and a good shot of his anatomy to confirm his sex.
Bruised ribs and cracked lips are only two of many small prices to pay for bearing the brunt of creating a new existence (or a new social security number--oh, you statisticians). Said small prices will soon be forgotten after a day of laborious meltdowns and the new acquaintance of an old friend.
Oh, that day. Pregnancy imprints an abstract impression of existence: one can acknowledge an existence within (that existence which causes the aforementioned bruised ribs), but can't seem to understand this existence has hands, feet, knees, elbows, internal organs (how I hope you're all there), and so on. This "existence" is, incidentally, a liter-sized person. Maybe a little bigger than that. In any case, it's a person. It's ridiculous.
When will you show up? I'm counting down the days and hours until I meet you, as though I actually knew when you would come. I need the confirmation of your existence to achieve a confirmation for a purpose of my own. Please, show me, show me, show me.

I think those hold so much truth. This is great. Thanks for entering.

This was great. What a wonderful look at the anticipation. If you are expecting, congratulations and good luck, if not, you nailed it on the head! This is fantastic!

This is an absolutely beautiful piece! I've never heard a mother-to-be describe her experience like this before. The reader can feel your anticipation, which is awesome. My only criticism is sentence near the end that sounds kind of awkward: "...as though I actually knew when you would come." The tense is kind of skewed here and it makes the sentence feel weird. But other than that, it's a wonderful piece.

Glad you won Gold trophy for this. For me the use of the word existence seems to overpower the intense feelings pictured by you. But, nevertheless, a noble peroration and a beautiful expression of the wonder of pregnancy.
