"Kill me now", he says while he tightly grips the knife.
"I have abandoned all hope, I have no life."
The lady in white appears in my dream once more.
The vision of this apparition in his head causes him to fall to the floor.
His pale withdrawn complexion says it all.
Since she has passed on he put up another wall.
The glow of the moonlight mocks his very existence.
He has come to accept death as his only penance.
Ghosts of past regret cling onto his soul.
Everyday he fears that he will be pushed over the edge and fall into another hole.
The internal scars will never heal and what transpired will never be forgotten.
The innocence of the innocent friend died that night as did she, a part of him couldn't wait for when.
"I promised her that I would protect her."
Yet she took her life because she couldn't stand living as things were.
Every night he tosses and turns reliving that moment of fright.
He ends up screaming and rising to his feet.
"That's enough; if I can't have peace, my demise will happen tonight."
"I see my unmarked plot in the graveyard and I know death seems so sweet."
Author notes
The poem is about an anime charcter named Hakkai from the show Saiyuki Reload. The episode is called Slumbering Memories. In the episode Hakkai, Sanzo, and Gojyo are haunted by past memories. Lady Suika in her twisted way tries to ease their pain but no one really forgets painful memories completely. I used the title death seems so sweet and option 3 word bank
