It looms towards heaven
the monumental sign of mankind's achievements
we've done it
the impossible has been accomplished
it was said about the cottage
the two story house
the mansion
the palace
then the skyscraper
knowingly each building is built
to overpower the other
to cast a shadow on past achievements
and each say
I am the tallest
the best
ever built
Until a week pasts by
and that too has a shadow cast upon it
like discarded scraps
each is forgotten
when another takes its place

A very unique take on the picture. You have some great lines but I would almost consider getting rid of the 'filler' words. Just my opinion.
