With guilt it binds
tight family ties
No freedom
lives within the lies
His future drawn
in blood red dye
Dreams frozen
from first infant cry
But all was not
as it would seem
Within that
cosy family dream
On the morn
of his graduation
The son yelled
in final frustration
“This is not
who I am
My name is Alex
it’s not Sam”
“I don’t want to be
a bright and shining star
Happily driving
the all American car”
“I won’t live
along predictable lines
Choking
as the family dines”
He walked
out the polished front door
Family fell
on the soft rugged floor
Mothers’ loud tears
fell for lost hope
Face in hands
father couldn’t cope
“We gave him all”
they blindly said
Turned their backs
“To us, he is dead”
Alex’s life
began that day
He lived it
his very own way
So the world
turns once more
And another family
slams the door
So many lonely souls
trying to shine brightly
Twisted, turn
as family ties tightly
Author notes
Thanks for the inspiration. I haven't written in quite a while and its good to have the ink flowing once more
