the prophet who noticed the folly (but never understood the sin)

its a silent piano
  a steinway
sitting in an abandoned practice room
    keys flaking
  strings catching
      pedals squeaking
    bench shifting

its a g minor chord
  a deceptive cadence
hanging on the air of the performance hall
    dissonances crying
    consonances flying
      hammers trembling
      fingers shaking

its a pair of slender hands
  strong fingers
laying on the blacks and whites of the keys
    tracing harmonies
    creating cacophonies
      outlining triads
      shattering the tonic

its a simple black and white page
  chopin's étude 10 no 12
screaming through the wood and curtain walls
    echoing memories
    exploding emotions
      revealing passions
      destroying hope

its a silent lone observer
  a doll
  staring with rapt attention
    listening fervently
    watching hopefully
      crying wistfully
      dying inside

its a secret
  the sin of le kiffe
standing between the player and the listener
    disrupting flow
    disjointing melody
      disconnecting performer
      disconcerting audience

its a finale
  the fin de la chanson
ending the line with an empty chord
    crashing fingers
    disjunct chords
      awkward silence
      composed recognition

its the eye contact
  the bow of the performer
mixed with the adoration of the watcher
    meeting as he falls
    parting as he returns
      cast in desperation
      returned behind the curtain

its the song
  fleeting in the silence
as the sole watcher leaves the hall in peace
    heart breaking
    silence echoing
      feet traversing
      memory singing

its the door
  closed behind the artist's room
where the silent performer bows his head
    lost in confusion
    living an illusion
      feeling intrusion
      wanting conclusion

"As surely as the LORD lives, the man who did this deserves to die!"
he speaks to no one but the piano
  which echoes one reply
    listless
    faithless
      helpless
      hopeless

its an answer,
                        But
                    YOU
                                are
                            that            man!

Author notes

so i don't know where this came from, but uh...it has hints of adultery in it. think like "lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off" by panic!. its sort of like that.

but lots of musical references
and um...the best song in the world is involved.

if you can pick up the rest of the references, i'll be happy with you. and you can be my friend because you are mucho cool.

Please tell me what you think
