Healing

The bonds of marriage have unfurled
What doesn’t kill us makes us strong
I’m back out in the scary world
It's not at all where I belong

I’m tired of giving you my tears
So I have changed somehow tonight
As if my character was smeared
It’s time to put things back to right

We women are the stronger sex
We're no stranger to so much pain
I'm better off without you, Ex
Let me see if I can explain

Real women do not need a man
To my surprise, I am enough
I have two legs on which to stand
You'll learn I'm made of tougher stuff

I just want to tell you, Honey
There's nothing that I can not do
Looking back, it's kind of funny
You’re just one more thing I've been through

Don't think I'm up against the wall
It's the foundation for my new life
I'll love my babies and stand up tall
I'm so much more than just a wife

Author notes

This is for a Contest to "offer encouraging words" to a sister ( sister to us all ) going through a divorce. I want to reach out a compassionate hand to her so she knows she is not alone. Most of us have known the heartache and fear she's going through. There is a life on the other side of this. Every woman has a story; this is part of hers. Best wishes to your sister, her children and her psyche.

Please tell me what you think

This gives a lot of encouragement.

My first impression is that your worde give a lot of encouragement to those who have been there or going through this. Emotionally I have been there and done that. It is hard without the backup of family and friends. This is not awkward nor should it be changed. The title is just right and the first line says just what is to transpire. The last line just couldn't be better. For me every bit of this is my favorite for it is so well written.

    Beautiful

This was lovely, very well written. Your right, so many go through this but we all come out the other side, wiser and stronger. Good luck!
