My Mother Gave Me a Man

Across the vastest of oceans
over the widest of plains
through the impossible cosmos
do I hear her refrain;

To see us together
you would doubt
but underneath
is what it’s all about.

“I’ve missed you man!”
Can you possible realize
the miracle underneath that simple phrase?
The opening up and inviting me
somewhere where no one like me has ever been?

Frontiers, I tell you,
we are still on frontiers
though the land has been settled
for hundreds of years,
though there are no new rivers
or peaks to explore
though we’ve mapped every inch
from shore to shore-

my Mother and me
stand on a frontier...

Each person represents a world, and when we meet, it is only at our frontiers. I like this poem, it charges and boils with spirit. You have a wonderful mother - how we are seen can be the greatest gift.
    You have been winkled!

Winkled? Oh, the guilt, for I have a debt to pay now! Such a whipmaster, that Lyndon! I've been spending time with emptiness lately, not such a bad friend, I've concluded... maybe I'll even make a contest of sorts out of it... great first line you have there, Margaret, "we meet only at our frontiers..."

Thanks Wayne - I will copy it into my file of great first lines!
I agree, emptiness is a far better friend than the delusions we usually entertain ourselves with.

My sister and the lucky woman with whom I share you sonship is worthy of great honor and praise. She is always there to offer advice, lend an ear or a shoulder. Whether you need a sounding board or sound advice... her ways are wise.

Why you wanna make me cry and I have a headache. Your words are the healing balm I so need dear love. YOU are a blessing in my life. Please know that we will clear so much land in our lifetime, and settle with mansions that invite all to come, visit, and enjoy.

You are such a delight and I LOVE YOU!

    Thank YOU!

    Always ♥
