Winter Scene

Fall has passed
Forsaken gold leaves have fallen
For with the passage of the moon
Four seasons have all followed

Every season had its ups and downs
Each memory so sweet
E'en though the moon has set
Eternal white covers the land

Outside the window lays a forest
Over 'cross the rippling frozen stream
On each lump across the hillside trees are seen
Oh how gorgeous it all seems

Beyond the cottage in the pure-white field
Behold the jet-black horse
Bending over the rapid river
Blinking in the chilly air

Gracefully obvious upon the landscape
Great horses tread through the trees
Gigantic though the forest be
Glorified in winter beauty

Kernels and seedlings asleep below the ice
Keys lock windows tightly shut
Keen to close in the warmness from the fires
Kops out there crowded with snow-white trees

Jammed up beaver dams downriver are perfect
Jade pools of water for the horses
Jewel-like sparkles radiating from the snow
Join in the radiant spectacle outdoors

Amid the picture lies the answer
A question often asked, so simple
A winter landscape, so gorgeous and yet simple
Awakens a knowledge lost long

Who? A wondrous soul
What? Just life
Why? For beauty
Where? The spectacular planet, Earth.

    Beautiful

This piece captures such beautiful imagery! Also, feelings of a bitter cold winter, yet the warmth of its' elegance and scenery you portrayed here. I love these lines "Jammed up beaver dams downriver are perfect
Jade pools of water for the horses
Jewel-like sparkles radiating from the snow
Join in the radiant spectacle outdoors" This was a pleasure to read Best of luck & thanks for entering my contest
