Behold The Future

Wonderment
or insanity?

Dreaming the dreams
of a true adventurer,

or shall we not sit
rocking in ludicrousness
as we throw our sense
chasing after our money?

Denying our future, in folly,
for the selfish whims of today?

Picture Prompt: http://allpoetry.com/images/ext/Contest/2369/234.jpg?1189801162

10 lines (breaks not included, I'm always very paranoid about that).

Not overly keen on my title. Titling pieces is always my big weakpoint (other than editing).

Thank you, it was a good picture prompt to work from, throws up so many possibilities. I had to do piece on one of my favourite subjects, hopes and dreams for the future of humanity, moving on and exploring further than our solar system, though, with the current mental state collectively of the majority on this planet, I doubt this is going to happen, with most people could neither care less nor even contemplate or know our physical position in the Universe. Most people couldn't even name all the planets in the Solar System.

      Truly sad.

I like this write. It does make a person wonder about the truth of dreams.

Thank you. It very much does, moreso our waking dreams, particularly in this case, dreams of the future and moving beyond this world.

It is definately worth it, but, in the face of such apathy, with the people of the world so near sighted and more caught up in what so-and-so celebrity is doing, or what am I going to buy at the mall today, or more effort and money spent by countries and governments in killing or finding new efficient ways to kill, our sense of adventure, exploration and ability to truly move forward are lost and hopes of attaining this dream are looking very slim for our race.
