My mommy said that he loved me,
But she didn't know the truth.
He always said he was sorry,
When he was through.
My daddy was always happy,
Until I came around.
He told my mommy I was useless,
But she didn't know how.
On my fifth birthday,
I only got one gift.
It was one less beating,
That I had to deal with.
When I started fifth grade,
My teacher saw my arm.
All the bruises there,
She didn't think it was any harm.
As I went to sixth grade,
The bruises had gotten worst.
The teachers always questioned,
I told them it didn't hurt.
Then it happened one day,
As I walked in the door.
My mommy was sitting there,
My daddy was over her.
He turned around on me,
By that time I tried to run.
I wasn't going to let him get me,
I was going to run.
Before the cops got there,
He hit me over and over.
He broke my arm and leg,
So I wouldn't run.
The neighbors called them in,
And said people were screaming.
It was my last call out,
For someone to atleast hear me.
That night I cried on the floor,
Blood surrounded my body.
My daddy said he was sorry,
Now my mommy knew the truth.
I spent four years in the hospital,
Everyday fighting for my life.
My mommy said she was sorry,
She said everything's going to change.
