to stay true

what can they be talking about?
it makes me agitated
feeling weird
I'm just me
can't they tell
i get so tired of their cliques
and so wish i were not visible
then the musician and early cynic
lying quiescent in my being
take hold and tell me
to use this moment of awkwardness
and remember to use it
to keep me humble
to keep me true

One cannot please everyone; really only need to be comfortable and satisfied with who they themslves are. Easy to read and understand - liked the flow and message you share here.

i usually do not comment on poems entered into my contests until after i judge them but i am going to make THE exception here. it's kind of funny that you ended this poem with "to keep me humble, to keep me true" only in that, my daughter and older brothers kind of have this motto, it's short and simple "STAT TRUE" so you kind of nailed something in saying that.

when i think of my daughter and most teens these days, as much as they like to say they're individuals, a lot of them are quite the same as in being followers but i could see so much of my daughter in this write. these lines were really great....
