Tiki mask is on the wall
Glazed with bronze, carved of wood
Larger than life, elongated features of Man
Almost too heavy to carry.
Tiki mask was once called God,
Before it was called Art,
And worshipped by a population,
served a diet of gold, fruit and blood.
Tiki mask disguised the Shaman’s face
As the power was invoked around the fire,
Inspiring Hope in a people long since erased.
Tiki mask once revered, now hangs on a wall,
Empty eye holes stare back at me placidly.
Once-God or Never-God?
One person’s Art is another’s God?
Is it Heresy or Redefinition?
Tiki mask is on the wall
Passing judgment on us All.
What thoughts did this provoke for you?
