Autumn's Beautiful Ache - Gold

Missing image

Pumpkin pie air, gingerbread land,
stitch of birds on a line

Ducks, falling like rain on a crowded lake,
geese folding up the sky

Corn husk rattle and squirrel’s brown prattle,
mole harvest tunnels to underbrush den

Leafy last hurrahs and weedy rustle
sound of loon on his leaving

Warmth in a green apple kitchen,
steam window covering goodbye.

Okay. Turn around and check the roast in the oven. Cause the tramp stole the pie off the window sill.

This is a beautiful piece. Great phrasing -- each line flows very well, and your imagery is strong & colourful. I love the idea of the 'geese folding up the sky'.
    Congrats on winning gold.

It is fall here for sure...we went from unbearable humidity and heat for two days to, now, down to 45 this morning. Fall is such a beautiful season, although I regret summer's leaving, the colors scents and sounds of autumn are beautiful.

The fullness of summer is taken apart and each color served in its own special tart and your poem explored many fo the flavors passed our way. Thanks for the joy.

Autumn is a beautiful season. Your alliteration and imagery brought the smells, colors and activities of this grand time of year to me...
