When the first blush rose in the trees
You whispered soft and low
That it was time for you to leave
I remembered how:
We met in the honey season of summer
We cleansed our sun-kissed bodies
In the welcoming, refreshing ocean
We stolled upon the sand,
We feasted on the sour juice
Of the wild raspberries
And laid in fields of
Free, smiling sunflowers
You left before the leaves fell
Clasping all the memories in your hands
I felt the vacant place next to my ribs
Where my heart once laid
And I realized all of summer
Was not the only thing I was robbed of
