"We tell ourselves the heart wants what it wants, that we can't control it, but that's just a convenient romantic lie. We choose our loves. Second by second, minute by minute, day by day, year in and year out. If we're lucky, what we choose makes us happy. If we're not so lucky, it doesn't."
-Candace Steele (Eternal Hunger by Cameron Dean)
I chase something closer
to the sun and your brilliant heart
like a star, wrapped deep in unwavering love
but something in me knows that I don't have the power
That I need to be stronger
to choose you and to fight this war
no matter the scars, warring for the taste of truth
where oceans are skies of thunder
and thunderous was the sound of you
So I'm fighting underwater, deeper
breathing your love and drowning my heart
as I fall infinitely far, in hopes that someday I'll become
the one you're pulling nearer
somewhere, further
so far away and so much closer to the sun
Author notes
If you choose this, it chooses you, and there's no escape. Not that anyone would ever want an escape, much less look for a way out.

Very true, and absolutely brilliant. You used the quote and a title and created something extraordinary with them. I love this piece, it's certainly a favorite. Keep it up, thanks for entering!
