isn’t always what it seems.
Everybody expects
A big heart and big dreams.
Last night I came home
through the fire escape.
There you were baby
draped in only my cape.
All I really wanted
was to make love to you.
Then I heard a scream,
“Superman, where are you!”
I went to visit Batman
Just to have a few beers.
We talked about life.
Then we talked about fears.
He sipped on his beer
And let out a sigh.
“I’ve been there man”
He said with a tear in his eye.
I fly over our place
When I miss you
Then I x-ray the house
Damn those panties are new
I hear that all the kids
Want to be like me.
They just don’t know
They just don’t see.
I spend my days and nights
Fighting the cities crime.
Then why is it baby
I’m the one doing the time.

That's really cool man. I love it.

-
such a unique perspective! lol you have a humorous style of writing, but always with a moral undertone... consider me an absolute fan!
-
there is some pain also with the heroes ,that people often fail to understand..it is only the glamour that lingers with the heroes remain with people...thank you for writing such a good poem
-
wonderful, i bet hats how he feels
-
I liked this take on the super-hero's life. Everyone expects it to be all glamor and heroics, but I'm sure that their romantic relationships would suffer. It is hard to lead a double life...it catches up with you fast. Nicely writ!
-
This is really good, with some humor!
You deserved those awards you got!
Congratulations!
Keep writing!
I love what I've read from you so far!
-
Fantastic!
Keep on Keeping on! I love to read you! You are a gifted young man. My son write music and for my phone I have the superman ringtone for his calls. He's 28. Check him out on you-tube Mark Smythe. I think you'll enjoy.
Regards, Jennifer

This is creative and fun with it's superman spin. I really enjoyed it.

-
i really like this one!
it's cool
fun and good to read at the same time..
gave me a new view on things! -
i really dig this one
i am a marvel comic fan and you? -
I'm not even a fan of comics or superman or batman but i thoroughly enjoyed most of this piece...i was having a great old time reading it and imagining it all in my head, up until the line"I fly over our place"and the rest of that stanza because it seems to me like it doesn't really fit in the flow of the poem, nor the direction, but you had that in mind to say and had to have it in there. I feel in this case, it was best to not include that stanza and keep the flow going from the conversation with batman....it doesn't quite flow and seems misplaced....good idea though and awesome beginning to the poem...

Love Superman! My husbands a spidey fan...I think spiderman is weak! lol
Nice rhyme and rhythm!!
"He sipped on his beer
And let out a sigh.
"I've been there man"
He said with a tear in his eye"
It's wonderful having friends who understand!! lol

Just goes to show that every occupation has its hazards. He would have been better if he could have stayed as plain old Kent Clark but duty called him to greater things.
Nice write, playful and funny. Inventive.

wow. that was pretty amazing. and so true. shouldnt everyone feel bad for superman? he spends all his time with the dumb crimes that he cant even spend time with the one he loves. this is really amazing.

-
lol lol... dude, I feel like superman (woman) sometimes too... so quit complaining & feeling sorry for yourself already! Ok, apologies... I don't know, I can't judge... and yeah, I do get you... it's hard on all of us really... like the DIESEL mag. ad: "human after all"... so take it easy, live & deal! Best wishes <3

This remins me of the program for families with someone in prison... It always seems the one who is not at fault is the one who gets punished the most... Thank you for your entry and good luck in my contest.

That is so true... and I never thought of it like that... Must be hard to be a superhero. :/ All your time taken up when you just want a little piece and quiet for yourself...
Wonderful job at really digging deep into the mind of a superhero.
Amazing!
Thanks for sharing & entering your write in A N Y T H I N G ~ G O E S ! Good luck!

A new twist on a classic, very nice. I never thought I'd see a superman piece in this contest, but your choice does mean everything. It flows accordingly with a nice bit of humor in it. Thank you for entering this poem into my contest :]
-
lol superman is badass
-
First stanza was simply stunning - I reckon you should have really ended it with that stanza to let the flow and the initial reaction to be stronger and really captivating.
Thanks for entering.
-
-
I'll think about that. Thank you.

This exactly shows a hero's inner heart that is wrapped up in the tough armour and the everlasting strength. And this background and the writing just form a great match.

-
This is one aspect of a superhero's life some people don't think about! lol. awesome write.
