Open a page on here, any page you like
And tell me what you find?
The thoughts and emotions of the writer
Placed carefully in a way others can see what they felt
Look deeper into the comment replies
And see where the writer got the inspiration
Some of these writes are written for a contest
Given a prompt to kick start it off
Now this could be a picture
A word bank, a phrase even
But what you will see?
Will always be the author’s thoughts, no one told them what to write.
Now some of these writes are clearly heartfelt
And could not be written otherwise
Some are sad and lonely writes
Again they show this in the words used
How many times have you really felt the emotion in a piece?
How many times have you felt the desire and passion?
Those words, those writes, have touched you
You cannot deny that, it happens
But what you have to remember is this
Those words are not yours
Those words are the thoughts and emotions of another
Written in a manner to captivate the reader
To display how they feel about someone or something
To make you feel a certain way
To laugh, to cry, to smile, to want what they have
An emotional roller coaster every time you open a page
I am one of those poets
Well, I think I am a poet
I write lines and stanzas and verses
To get my thoughts to you
Some times I make you smile
And that is good
Sometimes I make you laugh
And that is even better
Sometimes I make you think
And that is education
Sometimes I make you go ‘Awe, that was nice’
And that is special
Sometimes a saddened tear even
But that is rare.
I write from my heart
I write from my dreams and wishes
I write from my thoughts and emotions
I write what I feel
I say what I feel
But I have NEVER written a lie.
A poet is someone who cares about what readers think about their work
A poet is someone who cares about how others will feel after reading their work
A poet is someone who will NEVER mislead another by words they have written
If they do, I don’t class them as a poet in my eyes.
Most of my comments are descriptions of how the writer made me feel, made me think, made me sit back in admiration.
A true poet is someone who has to be honest
Not only to themselves, but also to the ones he or she writes for.
The readers will know when they have found this
When they feel what was written without question
Those who find fault in the words, not grammatical or spelling
Find false feelings and thoughts beyond them
Have not read it properly, and do not understand the poet’s thoughts at the time of writing
That’s when you need to ask yourself, why am I here? What is it I am looking for?
Do Not ‘down cry’ the poet who’s words leave you wanting.
Do Not ‘disregard them as a pathetic writer’
Do Not ‘class them as a writer of ill truths’
It is your time you are using to read these words
It is your thoughts that are now thinking
It is your words you write your next piece with.
Use your time, your words and your thoughts wisely.
But remember this one important fact
Whatever your write
Make it the truth.
Make it what you feel
Make it reach out to others without question.
Make it poetry…
