The hands of clocks are spinning round
the face of time so fast,
While all the walls are crumbling down
as rubble from the past.
And standing in the silence ...
while the die are slowly cast
I can only breathe the moment
which never seems to last.
Quiet down - my beating heart
find the peace within -
While balanced on the precipice
of now and where I've been
The stars above go circling round
the world's at God's commands,
While all the seas are shoreline bound
and reaching for the sands
And standing in the silence ...
as time slips through my hands,
I can only breathe the moment
not anticipate the plans.
Quiet down - my beating heart
find the peace within -
While balanced on the precipice
of now and where I've been.
The path ahead still winding round
the valley far below,
Way down there I see the ground
that once I came to know;
And standing in the silence ...
of sacred ground I flow
I can only breathe the moment
and enjoy the calming glow ...
Quiet down - my beating heart
find the peace within -
While balanced on the precipice
of now and where I've been.

Author notes
These thoughts were initiated by a principle found in the "Teachings of Don Juan" as well as certified by other philosophers from olden days up to the present. One of the first things one must do in order to find peace is to "live in the present moment" and "let go of the past"!

Congratulations on the well deserved gold my friend. This literally begs to be put to music. The repitions in the body of the verses and chorus work well to emphasize your message.
Sincerely,

While balanced on the precipice
of now and where I've been
... precipitation rains supreme ...
heart melts to pick up the peace says she ?

Excellent! I loved it! Wonderful descriptions of time that just flowed off my tongue like butter- I actually read this poem aloud to myself. I'm a huge fan of philosophy so I loved that aspect of it. I also loved the repetition... as if you were talking inward to yourself- telling yourself commands. Thanks for entering in the contest
