For those who don't know
I am a Marine,
We all play Halo
And drink from canteens.
I'v been to Iraq
and seen tons of stuff,
I'm now safely back
and I've had enough.
Day in and day out
I hear on the news,
The things that they shout
is just a big ruse.
There are those who yell
and want to protest,
The crap they then sell
can make me grotesque.
What they don't realize
is all the good we do,
And thy idealize
the things that they construe.
They'll tell you all the bad
and awful things we've done,
It is really quite sad
that our Heroes they shun.
They care for our nation
at leas thats what thy say,
With no adoration
they're unwilling to pay.
To me thy're a goner
they wont go to combat,
They know of no honor
no bravery at that.
They say that war is absurd
it accomplishes nothing,
But there vision has been blurred
yet still say "let Freedom ring".
But how can Freedom do that
if we just always back down,
All your arguments are flat
because you need us around.
Do you dishonor the dead
that gave up there lives for you,
Just to say whats in your head
but some day you'll surely rue.
I've signed up and done my part
to help this country be free,
I ask that you give your heart
to all my friends over seas.
Author notes
This is something I've had to deal with ever sense I joined the Marines. I hate protesters that don't know the reason behind their protesting. They have no clue whats really going on over there and I know this cuz when I was over there we watched the news on us and it was so twisted and corrupted that we couldn't stand hearing it. I'm out now but I have 3 of my best friends still over there.

tell me what is really happening in iraq. the news i get doesnt say anything but the crap liberals spout. they make it sound like we are the nazis. I want to hear it from someone who has been there

I loved how this was something passionate to you... it shows in the writing. I'm sorry that you feel like you are not being supported though, most of the people I talk to support the troops but not the war- there is a distinction. But I guess opinions differ from person to person, city to city. Thank you for entering the contest. I admired the passion
