say what they wish

"Too soon" they have said.
Let them say what they wish.
Let them question my heart
for partaking of this.
How they love to condem,
yet what right can they claim?
To say "'Tis too swift"!
To be taking thy name?

"Unjust" they have whispered,
They wished to be there.
They gnash their foul teeth,
And pull at their hair.
So soon will their gossip,
be proven as lies,
and all the world witness,
their final demise.

Their swords? Let them swager,
their words shall fall dull.
Let their harsh jealous whispers
fill their large empty skulls.
For what can now harm me?
Not the cruel words of man,
as all threats that dare entry,
fall swift by thy hands.

Let them call us both sinfull,
Let them call us both fools,
but the words of the wicked,
shall not turn me from you.
My love this I pledge thee,
you have my whole heart,
from this day and ever,
Till death do us part.

An odd girl, that. Ignore her.

    Poisonous snakes wriggle and coil
and try with their power all trouble embroil.
Simply ignore them and just walk away...
such snakes will then turn on themselves, and decay.

Your writing always fills me with pride and admiration for you. This poem is magnificent.

The feisty farm girl has returned. Heard hints of this before. Shame when that happens too. As usual, you've done well with the words, the rhythms and the rhyming. And you were able to keep that olde English texture to it as well. Very fine job there Mrs. Keep the muse rolling.
