A Trip To The Moon

Missing image
No gossamer wings
Or frivolous things
Do I need for this trip afar

But when I leave
I do believe
Since I値l be closer to a star

I値l take a telescope
In the profound hope
That Earth will be in sight

I want to be sure to find
All I致e left behind
In my adventurous flight

And when on the moon I land
My only possessions in hand
A new life I値l try to create

With the memories I hold
Like treasures of gold
All the things I think are great

My hopes and dreams
I値l need to survive, it seems
These three things are so much more

Than whimsical fragile gifts
I値l be prepared for all the rifts
That this new life may have in store

Dear Dee, Good choices you've made to take with you on the moon, it will be an adventure I guess, but I'm not the pioneer kind and Sir Ima I see is calling us whimps for not wanting to go.
A great poem Dee. good luck in the voting.

    Welcome back

Listen to them all(in my best mock whine) "I'd rather perish here on earth than leave for the moon!"

Yeah right, when that big fireball asteroid heads at the earth they'll be the first ones on the spaceship to the moon! lol

Now me, I'm not fond of the heat so rather than become broiled cucumber I'm on the next spaceship out of here!

I like your choices...two for nostalgia and one for for the future. And you know what, it's people who think that way who brave the new frontiers and make what once seemed incredible, common. Going west once seemed extreme now you just hop a car, bus or plane and you're there. Same with the moon some day maybe.

The moon is going to be fun...they say it's made of cheese...I love cheese.

    Thanks for entering

Dear Sir Ima, When the time comes there's gonna be a panic when all those spaceships come down to take us to the moon! How do we know we won't all get trampled trying to get onto the ship? Yeah! We'll stay here.

It's a scientifically proven fact that the moon is made of cheese, Sir Ima... and I see we're going to have to keep a close eye on you, or between the two of us we'll have it all eaten within a year or two. What's the next closest celestial body we can move to, anyway??

Or maybe it's just the outer layer that's cheese and inside is a whole new world... inedible, hopefully

Thanks for the read... see you there

    Dear Dee,

Now that you and Sal have settled into your new home and got most of your stuff unpacked and in its new environment, it's great to have you back in my group and to have this splendid entry from your pen.
    Welcome home to Huguelot!!
I love your poem and your choices of telescope, memories and your hopes and dreams as the three things to take with you to the moon and can understand how, after all your recent packing and unpacking, you've decided to 'travel light'!

However, my dear, I have to say
that I intend on Earth to stay
for this World's beauties I love so,
I've now decided not to go!

Maureen and Joan will stay with me,
    Jenelda too in company.
    Heathcote and Hinemoa have vowed
that they will not go with the crowd.

So travel to the Moon we'll not
but stay right here at Huguelot
where we can have a barbecue
and we'd all love to have YOU too!

So, as my first and number One,
please stay with us and join the fun!

Applause for your entry, good luck in the voting (and, if you stay, you will still have your AP trophies with you!)
Love and hugs, XXX Hugh (R.)

      Thank you, Hugh

I'm quite content to live here on earth
      but if the need arises
      I'm game for new adventures
      more of life's surprises

    We carry all we need
    in heads and hearts
to make a brand new start

    So fly my dear
    away from her
for must dreams are not mere larks

    Hugs...Eddy

Hi, Eddy, and thank you for reading and commenting on this I always love your rhyming observations of my work And you're right, our dreams are often inspirations to strive for something new, something better, something more than the mundane.

      love and
      Mom

Wow... you're back... I thought maybe you'd already gone to the moon, Sis. This is a pretty cool poem to be done so quickly.

I like that you don't need a lot of material things for your new home. I'll share my wacky weed with you, though, just to make it a little easier Come to think of it, I think I better pack some more of that stuff, there seems to be a lot more interest than I thought there'd be LOL... gawd, I sound like an addict, but honest to gawd, I've never ever tried it.. I just have it for when I need a couple of extra bucks, seems there's always some takers out there

Anyhow, good poem and I wish you good luck in the contest
