Victoria vs. Rick [Part II]

"What am I tired of, Rick? You know very well what I'm tired of." Victoria looked at Ricky with an icy glare.

"I'm tired of your b.itching and moaning. I'm tired of you always getting mad at me for no apparant reason. I'm tired of you being the one that always gets mad first. I'm tired of having to suck up to you and be the one to apologize. I'm tired of all the emotional stress that you've been me through. It's too much."

Rick looked at Victoria with utter disbelief.

"Tired of emotinal stress? Victoria, emotional stress is involved in every relationship. Without emotion there can be no relationship? Have you ever even heard of a relationship with no emotional stress?" Rick was trying extremely hard not to be annoyed.

"Our relationship had no emtional stress before this." Victoria replied looking him dead in the eye.

"Well..." Rick said calmly, wondering what would happen after he said this, "Maybe there was no relationship."

Victoria looked at him. Part of her wanted to cry, and another part of her wanted to slap Rick in the face. She did neither.

Instead, in a voice just as calm as his was, she replied. "Well then. Why am I here?"

He looked at her, "That's a good question." He looked calm as he said this, but deep down inside he couldn't believe what he was saying.

Victoria smiled, in spite of herself. "I guess I was here because I thought that there was a relationship. At least the pictures on your desk said so. But I guess that we were both wrong."

Rick could see where this whole conversation could go if he didn't do anything to stop it.

"Victoria. I didn't mean it like that...I was just..." Rick looked desperate to fix the situation.

"Ha!" Victoria laughed out loud. "You're a riot Rick. You really have me slap my knee sometimes." For some reason what she was about so say put her at ease.

"Rick. Everytime you say something stupid, you say that it was your ego talking. But that's a lame excuse becase we both know that it's not your ego talking. It's you. You. Rick Lamont. And you know what's funny?" Victoria waited for him to respond.

"What's funny?" Rick asked wearily.

"The fact that I believed it every time." Victoria laughed again. "Man! I am such an idiot!"

"Vikki..." Rick began.

"Oh so NOW you want to call me Vikki. I didn't hear you saying this before. Do you want for this whole thing to be fixed? Do you want us to start anew? Do you want to forget that this every happened?"

Rick looked hopeful. Obviously he couldn't hear the sarcasm in her voice.

"HA!" Victoria laughed again, knowing that it would probably be the last time he would ever hear her laugh in his room.

"I suppose that by you saying, 'Vikki', you thought things would be all better. Well. You're wrong. It's too late now. Whatever 'we' had is over. And I'm out of your life. For good."

Victoria walked back to the window and climbed out.

Rick watched her sadly as she did. He didn't know whether he would see her again, but somehow, deep in his heart, he knew it would be soon.
