I ask for peace to the families of the loved and lost.
I cry for the freedom that day cost.
Seek His comfort for the hurt, sorrow
and emptiness that plagues the families.
Lord, send your sparrow to show
that you will take care of their woe.
Let them feel your comfort,
love, warmth as they struggle through
the challenges of life.
Take away their strife if only for one day.
Yes I know this has lost its flow,
but everyone's life has lost it too.
So again I sit down and pray
for peace to all our minds.
Because,
I always sit down and relive that day
so far away of Sept. 11, 2001.
Author notes
No this may not win anything at all but it has my heart in it and the way I feel, it may be worthy of at least honorable mention. But I never enter a contest expecting to win anything but readers. It is a prayer I continually pray on Sept. 11th of every year since 2001.
This poem started from a comment I posted to someone whom I think should enter this contest if they haven't already.
Here is the poem that inspired this one

a very heartfelt piece and a prayer you have written here, it shows how much pain can devastate us and make us remember it for years to come till we live. your heart is filled with love and mercy, as always my friend. Thanks for sharing this wonderful prayer with us.
Love and light

this is beautiful. thanks for sharing

A good piece and undoubtedly heartfelt but Nov 11th is about remembering those who died in serving their countries and fighting for the right. Yours is dedicated to innocent victims of violence. There were of course thousands of times more of those on other occasions. The holocaust, the Blitz, Japanese bilogical attacks on China, Saddam Hussain attacking Kurdish civilians, the Spanish Civil war, the list is endless, all tragic, all a waste and all needless.

Thank you for your entry
A prayer is always needed, I am happy for this entry. It is a reminder where our thoughts should be. On the great healer and comforter, who can soothe our souls and make us whole.
I encourage you to keep fighting for the peace. Be an example and a light for God.
God Bless

From the heart!
I understand that feeling of not entering a contest with an eye toward wining and I am glad you have that attitude. It may happen but when a write comes from the heart, there are more important considerations.
A sincere plea that we remember and peace for those who cannot help but remember.
The lines that stuck out and spoke to me were
"Yes I know this has lost it's flow
but everyone's life has lost it too."
You cannot go far wrong when your heart is in it. I wish you well in this contest. Jadon
