if we could touch between the edges
of a paper cut
sew our fingers into slit
of skin until
what was once pain becomes union
if we could combine our hair in a downpour
water-color our eyes
into lily pads, sunrises
if when our words ran dry on our tongues
like the Sahara beneath
an open sky
we could still hear the answers
to each unborn question
what more could Love be?

The "if" of life has always enchanted me. Your words are vivid and meld together to create a poem of great union. They give unction to the sanctity of bonding in a marriage. I have been married for 34 years, and still find my husband to be the one who steals my breath away. We have yet to conquer the feats you've written here but there are some like these that we have repeated again, and again. A very deeply felt work here poet. I wish you well in the challenge.
Much LOVE ♥

thank you...

Ah. I miss our songs, too. You are the one who turned me on to Tori Amos (who I absolutely adore) through those songs.

This one melts in your mouth... very nice. I'm feeling all romantical now... too bad Jack's back is out of whack. Not to cheapen your poem or anything. It just made me want to cuddle...

how very beautiful this is and so real and sincere....
Love is so much more than it is usually portrayed as. Your poem says that so well...

wow...this poem plays with language in such a beautiful way, and creates such bright, vivid images in one's mind. it truly shows a mastery over words and a fresh way of approaching a cliche topic. I really love it!
