Self Awareness

She sits, freeing her mind,
Allowing inner peace to enter.
She releases her demons,
And as each one escapes she remembers.
Remembers her pains, her joys, her youth.
She knows of her losses and gains.
She releases every battle, every fight within her,
And allows awareness and peace to reign.

    I do like this verse.

Self-awareness is like happiness. The more we chase it, the more elusive it becomes. Treat it like a butterfly. Sit among flowers. Be still. The butterfly may alight on you! Ron of the Winklings.

wow, an incredibly vivid and emotional piece. The strength of of your word choices (demons, battle, fight) and the gentle repetition you use (her pains, her joys, her youth) pull the reader into this girls heart and her struggle. We identify with her. A very good accomplishment for such a short piece. Well written!!!!

that i believe is the key to remember but also to release yourself from the pains and losses and to concentrate on the gains and joys. it is when we can truly release the things that bog us down that we find the true inner peace that lets us conquer those things. i like yor outlook and your take on the prompt. be well and be blessed

There is a trick to "release every battle" and I think you have captured self awareness very well in this short poem. Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz
