Crimson Blanket

He wore a blanket of crimson,
So he could hide away all of his tears.
The scarlet color showing all of his fears,
His vulnerability.

The crimson blanket being warm and alluring,
But only put on as a facade.
Trying to hide his icy flesh and cold heart,
Which was once warm and so full of life.

Appearing so infantile with his crimson,
If only they knew how underneath he turned to stone.
Betrayed by his love,
Never to trust the infidels again.

Never again to let himself appear as a fool himself,
Creating his barrier with his crimson blanket.
Trying to heal his wounds of past hurts,
ever truly wanting it to leave his side.

Doomed for all eternity,
For fear of losing the only security that he has known to trust.
That does not judge,
Only comforts.
His crimson blanket.

Author notes

This one was written for a dear friend of mine. I had to watch him become something I never thought possible before and all because of a woman. He was a shell of the man he use to be. But I can only hope he will come back.

How sad to hear. It is so difficult today to find someone who will be able to love you and never hurt you its so sad that your friend picked the wrong person and now is like this. I hope that he will be able to trust people again and thats he will be able to love again. To love is to trust
