random write (not a poem)

"Miyavi!" the girl called frantically. "Miyavi, where are you?" The blue-eyed ten-year-old had been searching all afternoon for her lost friend. She would've asked her foster mother for help, but she didn't know about Miyavi... no one did. If she were to tell her foster mom about Miyavi, she'd be taken back to the hospital where they would make him go away just like before. Anna Lee didn't want that to happen again.

"MIYAVI!" she yelled.

"I'm here, Al!" a voice called from outside the back door. Anna Lee rushed out to the back deck, not even bothering to stop the screen door from slamming shut. Eyes wide open, she scanned the empty yard. The smile that had appeared upon hearing the voice faded.

"Miyavi, this isn't funny anymore!" she stamped her foot in frustration.

"Up here!" the voice said cheerfully. "On the roof!"

Anna Lee looked up and sure enough, there he was. Her eyes travelled from his rainbow hair to his child-like face that was broke out into a grin. His brown eyes sparkled and shone with mischief. Enthusiastically, he motioned for the young girl to join him on the roof of the house. With little to no difficulty, Anna Lee climbled onto the railing of the deck and then onto the roof next to Miyavi.

"So why are you up here?" she asked.

"Neighbor," he replied and pointed to the house next door.

"Oh, that's right... Don and Kaye moved out. So what do you know about our new neighbors?"

"Neighbor," Miyavi corrected her. "It's an older guy."

"Oh," she said, disappointed. "What's your first impression?"

Miyavi suddenly grew serious. "You might know him," he said quietly.

"Miyavi, what's wro-?" Anna Lee didn't have the chance to finish the question before she spotted the answer: an older man got out of a black Toyota Camry. He was fairly tall and had brown hair that was starting to thin. On his face was a goatee and a pair of thick-rimmed glasses. Anna Lee knew instantly who he was.

"Rich," she whispered, unable to keep the panic out of her voice.

"I thought he was in prison," Miyavi said quietly. "It's been, what, two years?"

"He was..." Anna Lee whispered.
