Pride of a Mighty Nation

Missing image

Sitting Bear,

  set in council,

never asking what is fair,

in his heart a fire burned,

his people hunger,

  life had turned.

to the Great Spirit,

  souls now would yearn,

he must decide,

  the white man to learn.

gone would be his way of life.

  harsh ways,

filled with strife.

  would the white man

always hate,

that which he could not take?

A warm heart felt write, yet so sad in reality, for the white man has such Answers to give, come judgement day.Clearly lessons have not been learnt for the world is still waging war on itself. I am sorry

The great chiefs all had to face decisions that were impossible to make, because of the systematic and structured homicide committed against the Indian nations. The massacre is still continued in a concealed way until today. There is something extremely powerful that the elite is eager to exterminate in the ancient traditions of Native American Nations. It often becomes clear when reading the speeches of the great chiefs, that hint at tremendous spiritual power, far exceeding the general perception of people. It is the essence of wisdom that will not be deleted even if the elite's efforts will be more extreme than they has been the case up to now. Behind the words in your poem is a huge chunk of omitted history that puts the expression in quite a different perspective for those who are aware of it. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care.

my friend, it is good to see you once again and to have your wisdom grace my page...for you have seen that which lies within and found the messgae i was longing to share...niaish!

  • the harsh reality for a nation that had all but ran out of time...to assimilate themselves into the white man's culture meant to abandon their own. A very difficult choice indeed. That these leaders maintained their pride and will is testament to their strength. A very enjoyable read.

  • Wonderful Read

Great imagery. It brings to mind the many tribal leaders who wrestled with decisions regarding what would be best for their people as their way of life was being taken from them. Sitting in council and discussing all options knowing that many of those options were disappearing. Very touching.

    • An Old Codger

niaish my new friend and honored you have understood my words...for so many of the wise ones tried over and over again to bring peace and just couldnt get it done sad and such a waste of life...

Very much deserving, this brilliant masterpiece of your pride in our people - it seems I've already commented on this poem a couple of times before, so the system won't allow me to offer any more applause - though I did wish to express my sincere gratitude for this uplifting piece today - the International Day of Peace. I do feel so bad for what the ones who took wrongly and to know it wasnt all the whites yet it was the leaders of this country .Even today they plot at the same greed and uncaring for their own people we see the future as do you in the coming of the greatest warriors ever was and reclaim their land and freedom . Time never stands still and will always be led by fire it seems for the people who knows right from wrong doesnt stand up for others as they should . I AM TRULY SORRY FROM THE DEBTHS OF MY HEART and you will see in time when this nation turns on their own a great reconing indeed

    Bravo!

This powerful masterpiece speaks the truth. Yet, not only would the white man hate "that which he could not take," the white man hated everything that was not his own. This was true whether he wanted to take it or not, it made no difference. It seems to have been the sad nature of white man's power and control. Niaish for sharing your thoughts on some truths of life!! I'm sure your family members are just as proud of you, as you are of them, Tender Wolf!!! Peace, Yellow Moon

The people must live, but is what life when the enemy will not acknowledge your path, that your culture should be honored. Age comes quickly when the weight of your choice will change your people forever. Somehow, he trusted in the strength of the spirit of his people. The spirit did not betray him and it was not lost, in spite of the oppression, the greed created by casinos, the spirit still speaks and becomes clearer as the heart of the world crys for a path to the One that isn't built on shame.

Souls have a choice to be in this plane; many relinquished, but many descended into this world. This world is potentially a dangerous place to be, for it is the realm of the trapped that have no future beyond existence inside a limited set of dimensions and time. It is why this world is fear and greed driven - everything the trapped will ever have, is fated to take place in the time given to these dimensions. Outside it there is nothing for them. However trampled or abused their victims may be (those who refuse to comply with their transient and harsh rule), they can expect better places and times past the limits of this gruesome realm. The elders knew and spent much of their lives trying to make it known to those who were capable of perceiving it. We all feel the power in their words - it has a reason and it is up to all those who understand to contribute to shaping the consequence of the reason that incited the elders to descend into this world. Thank you for creating and sharing. Take care,

    Chris

    Sitting Bull,

was perhaps the first Indian Chief, I remember reading of. From the Ghost Dance to his charismatic leadership, his story is fascinating. He, as a man, was quick to know one thing, to always turn to the Great Spirit.

So rather our backgrounds, or faith a yearning to understand the Creator, is a part of us all. Only He above knows the destiny of any nation and its' appointed time or season. Well Said and Well Written!

    Very introspective.

You have indeed spoken of the harsh way the white man has dealt with the indians and the land that they had lived upon for so very long. I am only part indian but have a lot of respect for thier forfathers before the white man came to this land. Now even a lot of them have gone from the true way to live and take care of each other and the land. I just wish that in so many ways we could go back to before there was so much hate and destruction in our world. There just dosn't seem to be any hope for the future of mankind if we don't change our ways. Good poem and I enjoyed reading it.

    Very good

The pride inherent with being a Native American is due to the strong, wise and charismatic nature of its heros such as Sitting Bear. Your heritage is a rich one where the ancestors stand as roll models and revered patriarchies of your nation. This poem addresses a time when change was inevitable and hard decisions had to be made by a few wise men looking beyond the day and into the future of their people.
