Eating pasta
smoking butts
sipping leftover wine
and doing the afterchat
of lovers,
laughing and listening
pretending i know
what you're talking about
as if i could keep up with
the brilliant one -
hah !!!!!!!!
pretending this won't end
pretending life/love/art
isn't fragile as
whats happening right before us
surrounding us as we speak;
look at them baby!
did you see them too?
i stopped at 5;
couldn't watch them fly off anymore.
(counting the falling leaves
in your summer garden
on a pre-autumn afternoon)
