At water’s edge, mind in the tide,
Great Poseidon straddling the sea,
Churlish waves crumbling in, with muse-
Like seamen ghosts, they frighten me.
Great rumble, and a heathen swell;
High heralds of the pending gale.
The forlorn beach trembles not,
Yet, stone-made am I, face drained pale.
Ocean screams like a phantom train
That runs onto the lonely shore.
Lightning swivels, a crash resounds,
Storm pregnant with sailor’s rancor.
Saline mist assaults my frail frame,
Teetering; a reed in the wind.
Sibilant spume is ghastly near,
Yet, deep-root bound, I shan’t rescind.
Alas, a rogue wave topples down
And steals me from my stagnate place.
Embalmed in the warm, briny deep,
I meet the sea with Captain’s embrace,
Awaiting anchor- my new birthplace.
Great Poseidon straddling the sea,
Churlish waves crumbling in, with muse-
Like seamen ghosts, they frighten me.
Great rumble, and a heathen swell;
High heralds of the pending gale.
The forlorn beach trembles not,
Yet, stone-made am I, face drained pale.
Ocean screams like a phantom train
That runs onto the lonely shore.
Lightning swivels, a crash resounds,
Storm pregnant with sailor’s rancor.
Saline mist assaults my frail frame,
Teetering; a reed in the wind.
Sibilant spume is ghastly near,
Yet, deep-root bound, I shan’t rescind.
Alas, a rogue wave topples down
And steals me from my stagnate place.
Embalmed in the warm, briny deep,
I meet the sea with Captain’s embrace,
Awaiting anchor- my new birthplace.
Please tell me what you think

Well done.
Your words paint a vivid picture of the storms upon the sea. How small we feel beside the gigantic swells. Some of the trials in life also make us feel this same way. It is good that we have The Lords arms to be an anchor- for our new birthplace, much better than the depth of the sea. Your poem reminds me of one of mine, titled "The Storm" you might enjoy checking it out.

Stunning!
I just adore your writing. I loved how powerful this piece of writing was. One of my favorites...but I just love the imagery I got from it. You know us and our crazy imagery of each other. Anyway, I especially like the part that starts with "Ocean screams like a phantom train," it sends chills up my spine but it truly is a wonderful piece. You write so well. I wish I could find more inspiration to write...perhaps I have not been in the right mood.

I see the pen is well oiled, a truly magnificent script of the sea is written here. I love your words , marvelous metaphors of the sea and sailors a like. very nice pace.

Very very nice. A refreshing read from the droll useless emo dribble I usually am forced to read on the website. I love the vivid imagery and metaphors of the sea. Keep up the poetry, for your words are a wave of fresh air in a sea of mindless....piss. No offense to any emos that read this

This is really lovely, very well done. I adore the sea and it will never cease to amaze me why mankind should ever be surprised by the power of it. Now and again nature has to remind us to show due respect.

I am without words.........
Ocean screams like a phantom train
That runs onto the lonely shore.
Lightning swivels, a crash resounds,
Sky pregnant with sailor’s rancor
I've been reading about the sea for years, and this has got to be one of my favorite pieces I have ever read. Your use of metaphor, rhyme, rhythm, and igniting imagery is incredible. This hyptonized me like no other poem I've read yet today. Thank you!!!
I really like the quotes you added to your profile page, especially from John Edward Masefield. I've never read Sea Fever, but I jotted it down for a "must read" in my poetry journal.
The title to this poem brought me back to the rising swells of the raging North Atlantic, as it pounded the steel leviathan I called "home." I was in the U.S. Navy for four years, aboard a guided missile destroyer that constantly was "rocking and rolling" 45 degrees.

I really appreciate your amazing comment...it has completely taken me ajar, very appreciative!!!
I adore writes of the sea, as well. John Masefield's Sea Fever is a good favorite, love his style and tone.
I adore the North Atlantic. I've only visited. Was privilaged enough to go out and see the humpbacks...stunning. I live on the South Atlantic, but I love the North. My heart is always at sea.
Thanks again for your amazing comment, and sorry I did not reply sooner.
