Wash away the grime of this life
And the dust that fills every pore of this dwelling
Be careful
The pet hair lurks beneath the movables
Watching and stirring with every step past
The crumbs reside on every surface
Plotting their next inappreciable move
The grease is the most committed
Stuck on, baked on, burnt on
To the point when elbows are useless
These impurities stain my remorse
And the vacuum cleaner stands as an unsightly reminder
In the corner where she would wipe away the filth
He cannot endure its noiseless, brainless stare
The house is too still
When she died she took the vacuums’ mind with her
Along with the soul of the broom and the heart of every rag,
Lying dirty in the laundry basket
His only company is one hair in the bathroom sink
May he never wash it down, that single piece of her

Well, this isn't about someone I lost, but it's about someone I know who lost someone. I hope that is ok. If not, let me know!
I wrote this one for a Creative Writing class that I am taking in college. We were to write a poem that had some relation to our work experience. Since I own my own house cleaning service I decided to write about one of my clients whose wife recently died. It's just him and his dogs now and he is needing help with the housework. And I'm happy to help
