indigo tears flutter from my outstretched wings
as my mind is enveloped by the sea
and waves of you and me
philosophize about the way our bodies
would disappear in solemn meditation
and glide into pure white light,
but remember that we may still drown
in impassioned melodies stringing from
perfect fifths – some precision
that we have never yet
found
horsehair strokes your watery notions
as your mind is tickled with
thoughts of Gondolas,
romantic sunsets in Venice
you said I was beautiful & hourglass-shaped,
but I find that you are the one always
running out of time, never taking a moment
to see rhapsody, or to peel the layers of varnish
away from your diluted life
and I am the one left to wait patiently,
sending my voice to glue together
the pieces of your backbone
that come apart with your
dreams
Author notes
The word "violin" comes to us through the Romance languages from the Middle Latin word vitula, meaning "stringed instrument"
