The Warrior - Battle Weary (A villanelle format)

THE WARRIOR – BATTLE WEARY

His gruesome  countenance, highlighted by the sunset,
    Made difficult by Life’s battles
The shrill sounds of the abusive speech by the Warriors, echoes
  In his Mind
Wishing to make vanish his saddness, his Spirit dull
Never experiencing cowardice,  triumphant over deception
Looking to the Forest, he sees the misty shadows

His gruesome countenance,  highlighted by the sunset,
  Made difficult by Life’s battles
The misty shadows do not bring fear in his Mind
A weary smile lights his fatigued face
Wishing to vanish his saddness, his Spirit dull

This Warrior, never an insignificant Man, stands tall and mighty
The misty shadows beckon him to the Forest
His gruesome countenance, highlighted by the sunset,
  Made difficult by Life’s battles

The Ancients, extreme agitation,  never aimed at this Warrior,
Remain at a lower level of sight
To detract from his current saddness, The Ancients surround
  The Warrior
Wishing to lighten his saddness, his Spirit lacking brightness

The Warrior kneels among the Ancients, at Peace
The soft chants of The Ancients, for the Warrior, a
  Sleep inducing song
His gruesome countenance, highlighted by the sunset,
  Made difficult by Life’s battles
Wishing to lighten his saddness, his Spirit lacking brightness

    Excellent

This Villanelle is such a perfectly and beautifully penned piece of poetry.
I am too scared to write one of these.
    LOL
I have mastered a few other ones though (if that counts).

I truly enjoyed reading this my friend.
    Thank you.
    Well done.

Keep up with the great work.
    Keep on penning.
Thank you so very much for sharing your wonderful and creative talents with us.

    .

  • you have made great use of the repetition in this form as as each phrases meaning evolved and grew; as did your character and setting.
an excellent example of this form.

  • Extremely descriptive and detailed, and packed with powerful and emotive language, and a villanlle variation to boot. A terrific poem.

Good morning, yet another fine write Though I have never attempted this style, it seems you have written it quite well with lots of great imagery that takes the reader to the place in which you have written about. Sensational, enjoyable read. Have a beautiful day, Ken IBT
