Facade

A frozen statue within my soul
a calm laughing facade
a mask
outside I flourish
inside I decay
without a chance
to escape
from a self built prison
made just for me
by me
to keep others out
of the true interior
and by doing so
make the true interior
cease to be

A contest entry

Please tell me what you think

Very cool poem! Walls built to keep others out very often wind up just keeping you in. The contest image certainly had a forlorn look about it. I can see that in your words. I loved your ending, though I think you want "cease" in the last line. Thanks for entering this!
