My song has sung its last breath
My wings have fallen from heaven’s depths
Every feather plucked from me
Dark’ning clouds above I see
For this is the loss of the song to thee.
Every note upon my strings
Dedicated all for Thee
Every prayer upon my lips
Sung on cello, sweetened kiss
But fall I did from splendour’s grasp
Singing fool’s songs that do not last
Snatched away my Liberty
Toss’d in wind is all I’d be
For this is sin’s final fee.
Death is looming, so surely
Every thought drained to see
Once robes of light now sharply torn
Here I sit with final mourn
Temporal beauty once before
But now is gone with flash of morn
And gone forever more.

Great spiritual poem--love the music in this poem and the way it reads! Good luck in the contest!

This is such a beautiful poem. I loved the rhymes - it is very rare that I can read a poem where the rhymes do not detract from the beauty of the words. Thank you for entering my contest.
Write on.
