The Road We Call Life

You have traveled far and wide
on this spiraling road we call Life

Passing trees that look the same

rocks and boulders playing games

There sits an owl in a tree

"Who, who passes me?"

"I, who am lost on this unforgiving path,

a pawn on this apathetic chess board of wrath."

"Even pawns can be instruments of success,

you must learn to embrace your Master's caress."

"How can I embrace that which denies me

the Life that I've always wished would be free?"

"Take a look around your self-proclaimed existence.

Would it be half of what it was without your loved ones' assistance?"

Opening her clouded eyes for the first time in a while,

saddened lips stretched to form a genuine smile.

"I do have people who love and who care.

It is time for me to end my despair!"

The owl cooed in agreement and swiftly vanished

now that her melancholy and been thoroughly banished.

The spiraling road soon straightened,

and at its end, her loved ones stood waiting.

"We knew you would come back to us if we prayed.

Now we know you are here to stay."

I really wish she would realize this. The problem is, is that her stepdad tends to care too much about where she is at and when she is with her friends that it is ruining her life... sorry back to the poem .. Nicely penned the last part rings true, her friends love her with all their hearts, yet she pushes us away. Thanks for entering, God Bless you
