sweltering afternoons
& dripping with sweat
we still had time to
share a quick hello.
dancing under the
running hose;
as we baked under the
heated oven foils;
years passed so fast
& I guess we grew up.
no more mud-rolling
or ice cream escapades.
I guess I shook off
the calling and letters-
heck.
it felt like there was time.

lovely take on the prompt. i loved how you made the years go by and the kids grow apart. describes a few of my own childhood friendships... though i never played in mud.... or had a shake and bake oven... lol =] wonderful write though thanks so much for entering and best of luck
