My September Sadness

Cool breeze of autumn marks
the ending of summer.
Leaves change from lush green
to an array of hues born of deaths palette.
A beautiful reminder of you,
of all that is gone
Though this is my favorite passing of time
it houses the anniversary of your ending.
An ephemeral of beauty,
an imbrued sadness that does not wane.

I've spent my days scouring the land
in search of a loveliness that matched you.
Left to roam this savage garden alone
with only traces to imply that you existed.
As fall advances over the hemisphere
a consciousness of days passed
embraces me with its' beauty and bereavement.

Author notes

My best friend was killed on September 20th 2003 yet fall is still my favorite time of year..was both of ours..I miss him deeply.

    Touching

September is the beginning of fall; the time that winter will soon follow. As we think about nature and the changes come. Your poem is beautiful written, and a wonderful tribute for your friend.

You immediately caught my attention with your opening:

    "Cool breeze of autumn marks
    the ending of summer.
    Leaves change from lush green
to an array of hues born of deaths palette.
    A beautiful reminder of you,
    of all that is gone
Though this is my favorite passing of time "

Thank you for submitting this in my contest, I do appreciate you allowing me to read something that is very personal and intimate. I hope to judge as soon as possible at the close of the contest. Thank

Although this is sad, it did have some wonderful imagery and a nice flow to it. Hope you got some much needed release from writing this. Most of the time good poetry comes from experincing pain. This is a perfect example!
