water

I.

they sat by candles floating in the Ganges
and saw their lives ebb and flow
with the drifting moon-tide,

and sealed water-droplets of their coarse
memories into falling jars made of
starlit melodies;

water threaded their destinies together,
as the midnight spray dusted their
sky-bound bodies

II.

he told her that she was amaryllis,
so fragrant that she could
make any man swoon –

and her eyes peeked out from behind bars
to touch his entrails with their raw
bleakness.

he grew her as a perennial,
waiting for her frosty cage to thaw
before her thorns could
recede into pearly blossoms,

before she became nothing but a
springtime illusion

III.

she wondered whether the clouds
could hear their secrets

but it turned out that they were
made of God’s whispers

and they naturally flocked towards
that deep-dark nature of hidden things,
like the centuries of dust that sits
unheard on withered paintings

or brilliant peacock feathers left
to float alone in the dying breeze

This is a beautiful, truly exquisite write. I love how you took all of that from such a simple prompt. The trophies for this are very much deserved. Some of the phrases in here are absolutely stunning.

Nice poem. Thanks so much for entering and letting me read it.

Magnificent! Well deserved recognition. I am so surprised that no other contest saw the genius of this. Or, perhaps they did in which case, what were the other entries in those contests like?

    Wonderful!

Your description is rightly fit into what I have seen at Haridwar, a nice poem to read in Indian setting. The live imagery is awesome at The place as I witnessed personally..Thank you for sharing the thoughts

    the second marvellous entry

what do i say, the smooth flow just carried me away ( in the waters)
definitely it was easy to go through, inspiteof being lengthy.
the arrangemnet of paras is nice.
best thing is it speaks about abstract through a real mediums.
and when u say philosophise and say that they are made of gods whispers , i almost could believe that.
    it definitely has a magic
    cheers
